App Stores choose Bango Platform to power next generation carrier billing across Latin America

Four carrier billing launches during May extends platform footprint across the region

Bango launch app store carrier billing in four markets in Latin America, including two launches for Google Play. With additional new markets expected to launch during the year, the Bango Payment Platform is at the forefront of the app economy across the LatAm region.   These launches will enable carrier billing, through the Bango Payment Platform, for:

  1. Telefónica Colombia subscribers using Windows Phone Store;
  2. Telefónica Colombia subscribers using Mozilla’s Firefox Marketplace;
  3. Nextel Mexico subscribers using Google Play; and
  4. Iusacell Mexico subscribers using Google Play.

The Bango Payment Platform enables one-click mobile payment at massive scale, maximizing conversion rates and driving revenues for app stores, mobile operators and content developers. Bango’s proven platform acts as a single point of integration for app stores and MNOs around the world, enabling them to effectively deploy carrier billing at scale. The Bango Payment Platform enables app stores to increase their sales by making payment easier and faster.

Bango already powers carrier billing in a number of Latin American markets, for users of Windows Phone Store, BlackBerry World and Firefox Marketplace.

When Bango has introduced carrier billing to fast-growing emerging markets such as those in Latin America, this has led to increases in digital content sales of up to 400%. As a result, Bango has emerged as the global leader. Amazon, Samsung, BlackBerry, Facebook, Mozilla, Google and Microsoft have all chosen the Bango Payment Platform to power their carrier billing capability, while the world’s leading Mobile Network Operators continue to choose the platform as a single point of integration to access carrier billing for those app stores.

Bango expects to launch carrier billing with additional mobile network operators in Latin America in the second half of 2015, for a variety of app and mobile content stores.

Commenting on Bango’s leadership position across Latin America, Bango CEO Ray Anderson said: “Now is an ideal time to be expanding in Latin America – with 62% smartphone penetration among 2014 handset sales and more mobile subscriptions than people across the region. As global app stores invest in the region, they require a reliable global payment platform that is reliable and proven at scale. Today’s announcement confirms the confidence that global stores and major mobile network operators are placing in the Bango Payment Platform to roll out carrier billing across high growth markets. We are proud to be part of this exciting expansion of the app economy, having pioneered the route to sell digital content using carrier billing”.
